Single Early Tulips

Single early tulips are single flowered cultivars that are mainly short stemmed and early flowering. They have cup-shaped single flowers, no larger than 3 inches (8cm) across. They bloom mostly early (some to mid season) and can be 6 inches (15cm) to 18 inches tall (45cm). For horitcultural classification, these are Division 1 tulips.

Their moderate heights make them a good choice for forcing indoors, and they make a dramatic show when planted in early spring beds.

Early season means they bloom in mid March to early April, depending on the zone you are in, and the variences in spring weather from year to year.

Single early tulip flowers are long lasting because they bloom when the temperatures are still cool. Many single early tulip varieties have a fine, sweet scent. Grows in zones 3-8.
