Hephaestus – god of crafts and jewelry

Hera was expecting a beautiful son, but when he was born, the baby was so ugly Hera threw him off the mountain.

Hephaestus crawled back up the mountain. Zeus threw Hephaestus back off of Olympus again. This time his legs were broken in his fall.

Zeus felt bad about this and forgave him for being so ugly. Hephaestus later became the god of crafts and jewelry.

Hephaestus was given the mountain next to Olympus as his home and workshop. Hephaestus was given three Cyclops (one eyed giants) as his workers.

When Aphrodite was picking her husband, Hephaestus said, “I work late,” and Aphrodite married him.
